How to get credentials
Step 1 — Create the app
- Go to the Shopify Developer Dashboard.
- Click Apps in the left sidebar.
- Click Create app, give it a name (e.g. “API Import”), and click Create.
Step 2 — Configure scopes
- On the page that opens, go to the Configuration tab.
- Click Configure next to Admin API integration.
- Add the scopes you need. Copy and paste these to get started:
read_orders read_products read_customers
- Click Save.
- Click Release to apply the scopes to your app.
Step 3 — Install the app on your store
- In the left sidebar, click Home.
- Scroll down and click Install app.
- Select your store and click Install.
Step 4 — Copy your credentials
- In the left sidebar, click Settings.
- Copy your Client ID and Secret.
- Note your store domain — the subdomain before
.myshopify.com. For example, if your store URL ismystore.myshopify.comortest-store-123.myshopify.com, enter the full subdomain.
Step 5 — Connect in API Import
- Open API Import for Sheets from the Google Sheets Extensions menu.
- Select Shopify from the API selector.
- Under Credentials, click Add Shopify credential.
- Enter your Client ID, Client Secret, and Store Domain (e.g.
mystoreortest-store-123— the part before.myshopify.com). - Click Connect Shopify — the add-on fetches and stores your token automatically.
- Select the saved credential from the dropdown and run your prompt.
✓ Tokens are refreshed automatically — you never need to rotate them manually.
